Respiratory tract infections are the leading cause of infectious disease morbidity and mortality in the world.
Treatment therapy in respiratory tract infections consists of antibiotics and symptomatic treatment. The
success of therapy is very dependent on the use of antibiotics in a rational way that is appropriate and wise.
This study aims to determine the accuracy of the use of antibiotics outpatients respiratory tract infections in
Sungai Abang Health Center, Tebo Regency with parameters that include the right indication of the drug,
the right patient, the right dose of drug, and the drug interactions. This research is a descriptive
observational study with descriptive analysis methods and retrospective data with samples including all
patients suffering from outpatients respiratory tract infections in Sungai Abang Health Center in Tebo
Regency in 2018 who met the inclusion criteria. Sampling in this study using a purposive sampling
technique. The rationality of the use of antibiotics in outpatients respiratory tract infections in 2018 based on
a qualitative analysis conducted at Sungai Abang Health Center in Tebo Regency, obtained a right
indication of the drug at 81.73%, the right patient at 100%, the right dose of the drug at 92.31% and the
incidence of antibiotic drug interactions by 13 events. Based on 104 data of medical records of patients in
Sungai Abang Health Center, Tebo Regency in 2018 there was still an irrationality in the use of antibiotics.
