Abstract

Antibacteria is compounds that can be isolated from the environment or living things. One of the organisms that produce antibacteria is bacteria. The bacteria in the gills of bamboo lobsters (Panulirus versicolor) are a type of microorganism that is capable of producing antibacterials. The aim of this study is to determine the name of bacteria in lobster gills and their ability to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcu aureus. The method used in this study was automatic culture analysis (VITEK MS) and paper disk diffusion to see its antibacterial ability. The isolation results showed that there were three types of bacteria that were isolated from lobster gills, namely Staphylococcus sciuri, Staphylococcus gallinarum, and Bacillus megaterium. The three bacterial isolates were then tested for their ability to inhibit Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial test results of the three isolates were only Bacillus megaterium able to produce an inhibition zone (6.52mm) with a moderate inhibition category.
